Juicy Pork-Wrapped Eggs

Introduction
These juicy pork-wrapped eggs are coated in a sweet and savory garlic soy sauce that clings beautifully to the pork. The outside becomes glossy and deeply flavorful, while the soft-boiled egg inside keeps the dish rich and satisfying. Served with warm rice, this is an easy Japanese-style main dish that feels comforting and filling without being complicated.
Ingredients
[Servings : 5 rolls]
- Thin-sliced pork: 10 slices
- Eggs: 5
- Potato starch: For coating
- Oil: 1–2 tsp Salt: A small pinch
Sauce
- Soy sauce: 3 tbsp
- Sake: 3 tbsp
- Sugar: 1½ tbsp
- Garlic: 1 clove, grated
Optional Toppings
- Green onions: As desired
- Black pepper: As desired
- Sesame seeds: As desired
Instruction
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the eggs for 6 minutes.
- Transfer the eggs to cold water, cool completely, and peel.
- Lay two slices of pork in a cross shape and lightly season with salt.
- Place one egg in the center and wrap it tightly with the pork, making sure the egg is fully covered.
- Lightly coat the outside with potato starch.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat and pan-sear the pork-wrapped eggs until golden on all sides.
- Add the soy sauce, sake, sugar, and grated garlic. Simmer while gently turning the rolls until the sauce reduces, thickens, and coats the pork with a glossy finish.
- Serve warm and top with green onions, black pepper, or sesame seeds if desired.
Tips
- Make sure each egg is fully covered with pork so the rolls hold together while cooking.
- Coat the pork lightly with potato starch to help create a crisp surface and help the sauce cling better.
- Turn the rolls gently while pan-frying to keep the pork wrapped securely around the eggs.
- Let the sauce simmer until thick and glossy so it coats the pork well instead of remaining watery.
